2008
TRAYS, edited by Quilian Riano, was an online journal that introduced itself as follows: “Trays, the new web-based GSD student journal is launching officially today. The name Trays better represents the intent, to fulfill the goals of communication and discourse that are embedded in the design of our building, Gund Hall, and its open tray system.”Originally hosted on the GSD website, the journal has left no public trace a decade and a half later. During this period, the School’s website was updated —an understandable change, and one that underscores the fragility of web-only publishing. This disappearance highlights a broader issue: the lack of long-term planning for digital content when launching an online journal. When sustained access is expected, it is essential to establish clear strategies for long-term preservation and support.
